ROBIN STEVENS

UX Strategy // Research // IA // Design

Each time I start a new project my curiosity ignites. What problems and challenges is the business looking to solve? Where does this project sit along a product roadmap? Who are the users and what are their needs and their goals? It's exciting to map the terrain that allows good design solutions to emerge.

I have a vivid memory of attending my first research listening lab. UX was an emergent discipline. I listened to customers describe their expectations and felt a professional tectonic shift. For me, satisfying experience design doesn't come from an organization's loudest voices. It comes from the user feedback.

Since then I've employed many techniques to put myself in the end users' shoes. What do users need, want and expect? Digital journeys are successful when design feels almost invisible; it's our job to set and meet user expectations at each step along the way. I get a charge from finding the intuitive path that gets users where they want to go. The business results follow.

I create deliverables in whatever software makes most sense for the team. Office suite and Google docs are surprisingly useful. Figma has become essential. Sometimes hand-drawn sketches and whiteboard brainstorming get the trick done. I've got my go-tos, but what's important is making sure we can design together to support user needs.

Let's collaborate!
